Paul Rose
Paul is a Chartered Arbitrator, a Chartered Surveyor and a member of ArbDB Chambers. He is an Accredited Mediator with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, RICS, the Kuala Lumpur Regional Arbitration Centre, the Dubai Mediation Centre and Clerksroom. He is also a member of the Advisory Board to the Dubai Mediation Centre. He is an accredited member of the internationally recognised International Mediation Institute. Paul has mediated 126 mediations to date and has over 45 years’ broad experience as a Chartered Surveyor both in private practice and in the corporate sector.
Paul is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the President’s Panel of Arbitrators at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and CIArb Disputes Service panel – property. He is also a member of the President’s Panel of Mediators at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is one of the few people dual qualified as a commercial Mediator and an Arbitrator.
Paul is also a member of the RICS President’s Panel of Arbitrators in Commercial Rent Reviews. He is also a member of the RICS Neighbourhood Disputes Pool.
Paul was educated at Cranleigh School and undertook the external degree in Estate Management at the College of Estate Management, University of Reading. He gained the post graduate Diploma in Arbitration at the College of Estate Management and following pupillage, became a Chartered Arbitrator. Paul has a wide training in mediation including the facilitative, evaluative, narrative and transformative models. He is one of the leading mediators in the RICS.
Paul has been a tutor in property valuation for the College of Estate Management and an external examiner for the University of Reading. He has been a long serving member of the Valuation and Tax subjects advisory committee and is now a member of the Professional Engagement Forum for the University College of Estate Management. He has provided the editorial to the 5th edition of the seminal text “The Investment Approach to Property Valuation” by Professors Andrew Baum and David Mackmin.
Paul has particular expertise in dispute resolution both in mediation and arbitration over a wide variety of property and commercially related disputes including commercial and building site rent reviews, development disputes, partnership disputes, construction, commercial and residential service charges, easements, boundaries, dilapidations, valuations, fishing rights, farming rights, access to land, professional negligence. Paul accepts both domestic and international arbitration disputes.
